if the people we love are stolen from us
Like a merry-go-round
the way to have them live on
is to never stop loving them.

haha.. today is my first day of psychiatric posting at IMH aka woodbridge hospital. unfortunately, tmr's my last... sob sob.. its a very intersting place indeed.
firstly we had to go interview a patient. (his final diagnosis was a hypomania. which means a less severe version of mania) anyway, the first think he did was he said there's a beautiful lady outside wearing red, asked me to go look for her. but i tried looking, no lady there...so we were wondering whether he was hallucinating or not. and anyway, we proceeded on to his religious beliefs, and i was the only one in the group of interviewers to be non-christian. then he asked me abt some buddhist thingy, and i din understand. i tink its mainly because he talks v fast and mumbles quite a lot.. so he was saying tt i'm a useless buddhist and proceeded to "baptise" me on the spot. and he forced me to wear his cross if not he wun leave.. argh.. hopefully i can return it at the end of my posting.. hehe..
well, after lunch we were supposed to go for am electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) session. it's those stuff tt we see in movies, ppl passing electric current thru the mentally ill patitent's brain. but contrary to popular beliefs, it is actually quite mild and not tt traumatic. patients also do suffer from memory loss, and these are mostly centred around the procedure itself, which means tt some wun even remember going through it.
anyway, right before we started the tutorial, we heard this guy from inside the room shouting that he is scared and that he did not want to undergo the procedure. this is followed by some banging on the door, and suddenly the door opened and this man ran out with some nurses behind. argh! haha.. then they asked us to help catch the patient, and some of our guys bolted after him.. haha.. they managed to catch him and i tink told him tt we wun be doing it today, so he was quite tame afterwards.
anyway, this ECT thing is supposed to induce bilateral seizures in ur brain, so u'll actually have fits. unfortunately, (although i do sound a bit sadistic saying this) that procedure that i observed, there was no fits at all. the doctor told us that it was bcos a lot of muscle relaxants were given. sigh... the other groups had a much more traumatic experience i tink.. lol..
anyway, we then went to the emergency department, and we saw this woman there screaming her lungs out.
wat a day...
and i proceeded to reach back home at 5plus and slept until now.. hehhe.. now=4am in the morning... :P
and life still goes on...
