if the people we love are stolen from us
the way to have them live on
is to never stop loving them.
buildings burn, people die...
but real love is forever.

The Guitar Ensemble of NUS (GENUS) was founded in 1981 by Mr Alex Abisheganaden. The 60-member strong ensemble has a wide repertoire ranging from major classical works to jazz and traditional folk music. The region's first Niibori guitar orchestra - GENUS - reveals its uniqueness in its exploration of varying shades and tonalities through a special set of Niibori guitars with varying pitch.

In addition to its annual concert which is always performed to a full-house, some other previous engagements include the Singapore Arts Festival, ExxonMobil Campus Concerts held on campus, music workshops to schools, as well as numerous public events. Last year, GENUS has bagged awards, namely the 1st and 2nd for Ensemble section at the Singapore Guitar Festival.
